The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the prime example of how inter-connectivity should work in a Cinematic Universe. While all movies serve as stand-alone stories, they all connect and lead to bigger threats and stories. The most major tie-in the movies have is the Infinity Stones. As of right now, we have seen 5 of the 6 Infinity Stones (space stone in “Avengers”, reality stone in “Thor: The Dark World”, power stone in “Guardians of the Galaxy”, mind stone revealed in “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, and the time stone in “Doctor Strange”). The big question now is, where is that last stone?? Being as there are 4 movies before Avengers: Infinity War, this list will show the likeliness of the Soul Stone appearing in the next few movies from least likely, to most likely.
I’ve got a good $200 on this movie not having the soul stone. The infinity stones have been introduced in cosmic level events with more cosmic level characters. Spider-Man is not one of those characters. Also, Homecoming is to be a more personal story of Peter Parker in a universe of world-saving Avengers. You don’t have to add an all powerful stone to make a Spider-Man story work, the character can do it all by himself. The soul stone has no place in this story as it would only be seen as a forced in gimmick.
T’challa made a huge first impression in “Captain America: Civil War”. He showed his power set, skills, regal personality, and arguably the coolest character design in the MCU thus far! Though I personally believe that The King of Wakanda doesn’t need anything cosmic to make his story interesting, there is one aspect of the character that has potential for the soul stone’s introduction: T’challa’s title of King of the Dead. This aspect of the character and his country could be, at the least part, a nod to the stone with a more elaborate explanation in “Avengers: Infinity War”.
This movie will most likely see an introduction of the Soul Stone is the 3rd film starring the Norse god of Thunder. The reasoning behind this thinking is the introduction of Hella. Her powers are based in death and ….. souls… huh..
A possibility is that her powers are derived from the stone itself, similar to vision, quicksilver, or scarlet witch. Or at the very least, amplified by it to the point of shattering Mjonir (RIP). It’s also heavily rumored that Hella will take the place of Death in the MCU, therefore giving the movie a huge tie in to Thanos. Also, Thor holds the last cosmic level story before Infinity War, making it a prime candidate for the stone.
Avengers: Infinity War
The final stone could most definitely be introduced in the 3rd Avengers film! At this point, anything can happen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. An introduction of this 6th stone could come from anywhere. For example, Thanos could already be in possession of it. Or it shows itself as an aspect of the world we’ve seen in other films for the past few. Anything could happen. I have a theory that Adam Warlock’s birthing pod from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 holds it, as evidenced by the shining light emanating from it. In the comics, Adam Warlock has a direct connection to the Soul Stone so that very well could be possible. However, Marvel could also want to avoid predictability, therefore introducing the stone as a completely different entity!
Any of these movies are fair game, and as far as we know, it could be a movie after Infinity War! Maybe our dear Carol Danvers will introduce it in Captain Marvel if the stone doesn’t appear in Infinity War! Only time will tell. What are your theories? Do you think the Soul Stone will show up before Infinity War, setting everything in place for the battle against Thanos? Let us know your theories!
